MARUGAME UDON

Konichiwa~

Recently I've been having lots of eastern dishes. Well to be honest only Japanese and Korean cuisines. My sister wanted to try this recently open food outlet (how recent I don't know). The name is Marugame Udon situated in Setia City Mall.

As the name suggests, this outlet serves Udon as the main dishes with some Tempura selections on the side (a few rice dishes too). Like I said I'm an amateur blogger therefore I've forgotten to take pictures of the menu clearly. As per the photo below you can roughly see the menu hanging underneath the shop's name.

School canteen like ordering. Choose your meal, receive your meal and pay at counter.

This shop only serves eight (8) types Udon dishes, eight (8) types of Tempura menu and four (4) rice dishes. Though the menu seem small, the portion of each meal is quite large (for average person). I had the Niku Udon which is Udon in broth with shredded beef on top. My sister had the Kake Udon which is the same except without the shredded beef. It's the simple Udon in broth. I'm not sure what broth it was used (most likely chicken broth).

Ittadakimassu! Niku Udon, Beef Croquette, Ocha (cold)

As you can see the they are generous in their serving. The broth is almost a bowl full. The udon is thick. A few strings is already a mouthful. The broth is very flavorful. The shredded beef portion is quite a lot. Beef croquette is big. The filling is very tasteful and packed. Ocha (hot or cold) is refillable I think as they will give you a glass and you just fill the drink on your own at the dispenser.

The setting and decoration of the food outlet has a very nice local Japanese feeling. From the wooden tables and benches to the wooden signboards, traditional Japanese decorations, picture frames on the walls, it gives you a very nice ambiance like you are having a nice meal in small local restaurant in a village in Japan.

That's Mount Fuji I think

Instead of showing picture of busy cities, the pictures are of streets, culture, small villages. Peaceful.

Prices of food and beverages are pretty reasonable if not cheap (considering the portion). Our meals cost us almost RM40 (including GST) but it could be lower if we didn't take any Tempura.

Ahem. GST. Ahem.

For those who are very particular of halal food, fret not. Though I was not aware of the halal sign, many of the staff here are Malay even the cook. The chef or manager is Chinese (I think). In conclusion, this place is perfect for you to have a quick, simple but stomach satisfying meal. It is located on the UG level opposite Bar.B.Q Plaza restaurant. I recommend anyone who loves Udon meals to visit this delicious Japanese cuisine outlet. This recommendation comes from me who doesn't really like Udon. Yeah. Hehe.

Nice and soothing setting

That's all for now. Until next meal. Sayonara~ :)
